About Lois Spangler

I’ve been writing stories since I was able to make them up. Some of us grew up out of make-believe, but I never did. I live there pretty much all the time. So I actually try to make a living out of that state of mind.

I’ve written short stories and plays that have been published and produced. I spend a lot of time running and playing tabletop RPGs. I spend another lot of time goofing off on computers, online and in games, and I spend another lot of time talking with friends and colleagues and family and probably strangers. I don’t often shut up.

It’s a wonder I get any writing done at all.

I’m currently about halfway through a Doctorate of Creative Industries, with my research centering on the intersection of interactive narrative and Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of polyphony.

I also practice something called HEMA, with a focus on pre-Destreza (link in Spanish) and Destreza rapier. I do not pretend mastery, but man, do I have a good time.
